“Suits” Ratings Modest in Return, “BUCKWILD” Bounces Back

“Suits” topped most of its competition Thursday night, but the ratings for its winter premiere were not as electric as some expected.

With a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating and 3.6 million viewers, “Suits” ranked as the top scripted series on cable Thursday night and the second-best cable original. But its performance was below that which it was delivering for much of its most recent summer run, an underwhelming reality given how much buzz the show has accumulated over the past year.

On the other hand, Thursday’s premiere data did edge that for the show’s most recent summer premiere, which is especially positive given the tendency for winter timeslots to be challenging for cable series.

— After dipping a whopping 28% in its second week, “BUCKWILD” showed some strength with a rebound Thursday. The hourlong combination of two episodes improved to a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating with 2.3 million viewers, which is solid by MTV standards.

The 10:30PM portion, which drew a 1.3 and 2.5 million, was the night’s top cable original in the demo.
