CW’s “The Carrie Diaries” Premieres to Disappointing Ratings

An early look at ratings for Monday’s premiere of “The Carrie Diaries” is available, and it is not pretty.

Update: “The Carrie Diaries” scored a 0.6 adults 18-49 rating with 1.60 million viewers. This falls short of any reasonable expectations.

According to TV Media Insights, The CW’s “Sex and the City” prequel launched to a tepid 1.3 overnight metered market number Monday night. Only slightly ahead of what the struggling “Gossip Girl” delivered in the slot last year, this is a very disappointing bow for a heavily-hyped project.

Earlier this season, The CW launched “Arrow” and “Beauty and the Beast” to 3.0 and 2.4 overnight numbers, respectively. From a metered market perspective, the closest companion for “Carrie” is the already-cancelled “Emily Owens, MD,” which opened to a 1.2.
