“Skyfall” Dominates Friday Box Office, Set for Massive Opening Weekend

“Skyfall” lived up to expectations that it would premiere to the highest numbers in the history of the Bond franchise. The film grossed a whopping $30.8 million Friday, establishing a $33 million gross with Thursday’s screenings included.

With that $33 million already in the bag, “Skyfall” should be set to cross the $80 million mark, as had been projected by industry analysts.

2008 predecessor “Quantum of Solace” garnered $27 million in its Friday debut en route to a $67.5 million weekend. “Casino Royale,” the first to star Daniel Craig in the iconic Bond role, earned $14.7 million in its opening Friday, cruising to $40.8 million for the full weekend.
