NBC Finally Gives “Community” a Premiere Date; “Smash” Return Also Set

Though small, the “Community” fanbase is a passionate one, and it was very disappointed by news that the planned October season four premiere was nixed.

Even worse, NBC did not provide an immediate replacement date, giving fans little about which to get excited.

That relief-inducing news finally came Tuesday, as the Peacock confirmed that the beloved comedy will return on February 7.

Not relegated to Fridays as was originally planned, “Community” will move back into its 8PM slot on Thursdays as a lead-in for “Parks & Recreation,” which returns to 8:30PM beginning January 17.

“The Office” will continue at 9PM, while new comedy “1600 Penn” will get the 9:30PM slot, effective January 10.

— NBC will make a number of other changes at midseason. Beginning January 7, “The Biggest Loser” (which actually gets its premiere the preceding Sunday) and new drama “Deception” will occupy the Monday block. That tandem will broadcast until March 25, when “The Voice” and “Revolution” return to finish out the year.

— “Smash” will return on Tuesday, February 5 with a two-hour installment from 9-11PM. It will then move permanently into the Tuesday at 10PM slot.

Beginning January 8, “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers” will own the 8-9PM slot on Tuesdays.

— The “All Star” edition of “Celebrity Apprentice” will bow on Sunday, March 3. It will broadcast two-hour installments (9-11PM) until March 31, when it shifts to 10-11PM and welcomes the two-hour premiere of “Ready for Love.”
