Claire Danes Scores Emmy for Acclaimed “Homeland” Performance

Though she won for her HBO’s “Temple Grandin,” Claire Danes has not been in Emmy contention as a lead actress in a drama series since 1994’s “My So-Called Life.”

She did not win then, but she did win this year for “Homeland.”

Danes was a strong favorite to win for her performance on freshman series “Homeland,” and sure enough, she was invited up to claim her trophy on the stage. The actress beat out Kathy Bates (“Harry’s Law”), Glenn Close (“Damages”), Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife”), Elisabeth Moss (“Mad Men”) and Michelle Dockery (“Downton Abbey”).
