Another Show, Another Emmy Win for Julia Louis-Dreyfus

With critics so deeply into Amy Poehler’s performance on “Parks & Recreation,” it finally seemed like it could be her year to win an Emmy for the show.

Unfortunately, Julia Louis-Dreyfus was also in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy category for her new show “Veep,” which automatically made Poehler–and the other ladies in contention–an underdog.

Sure enough, Louis-Dreyfus’ work on the HBO series earned her the win. The actress, who previously won for “Seinfeld” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” beat out Poehler, Lena Dunham (“Girls”), Zooey Deschanel (“New Girl”), Edie Falco (“Nurse Jackie”), Tina Fey (“30 Rock”) and last year’s winner Melissa McCarthy (“Mike & Molly”).
