“The X Factor” Ratings Improve from Last Week, “Glee” Down Slightly

Even with an improved “X Factor” lead-in, “Glee”‘s second Britney Spears special failed to capture the ratings magic of the first one.

Updated Ratings:
The X Factor – 3.4 A18-49 rating, 9.9 million
Glee – 2.9 A18-49 rating, 7.4 million

This week’s “Glee” fell slightly in the overnight metered markets to a 5.3 rating, a decline of 5% from last week’s 5.6.

By most standards, certainly of those for a show that has vastly cooled off from a buzz standpoint, the first two “Glee” episodes have still performed well in the overnight ratings. The question is now whether “Glee” can maintain that respectable performance as major competitive networks CBS and ABC populate their 9PM hours with originals.

FOX’s 8PM edition of “The X Factor,” meanwhile, posted a 7.0 metered market rating, off half hours of 6.5 and 7.5. Though still down from last year’s performance, this marks a 9% increase from last Thursday’s number.
