WWE Fires Abraham Washington Over “Offensive and Inappropriate” Comments

Just when it appeared the dust was settling on Abraham Washington’s controversial Kobe Bryant rape joke comes news that WWE formally released the Superstar.

WWE announced Friday that it had wished Washington well in his “future endeavors” over what it would later tell TMZ was his continued “poor judgment” regarding the use of inappropriate comments at live events and on social media.

“Unfortunately, Brian Jossie, playing the character of A.W. was terminated because he continued to exhibit poor judgment by making offensive and inappropriate comments on live television and on social media,” said WWE.

The outspoken performer pulled no punches in responding, largely attacking WWE for inspiring him to be bold with a legacy of performers like The Rock and Steve Austin only to hold that gall against him when it came time to make a decision on his future.

He Tweeted, “Thank you WWE for creating me and then killing me because I only portrayed what I grew up watching… The #WWE!!”
