MTV Releases Another Scene From “Inbetweeners” Adaptation

The first trailer for MTV’s upcoming adaptation of hit English comedy “The Inbetweeners” received abysmal reviews, and a newly-released clip from the premiere is unlikely to fare better.

Transporting a scene and storyline from the British series’ second episode, the clip features Simon dealing with the surprise consequences of spraypainting a love note on Carly’s driveway. Though the scene is lifted from the UK version, the actual acting and execution seems far clunkier, and will likely compound the pessimism over whether this cast can live up to the lofty standard set by the original series’ stars.

By very prominently labeling this a scene from the August 20 premiere, it seems the MTV version will limit what it adapts from the original premiere in order to more rapidly dive into the action. Little about the American version has been praised so far, but this particular decision is likely for the best–the original, awkward “Inbetweeners” pilot is not one of the more fondly-remembered episodes.
