WWE Superstar CM Punk’s friendship with UFC contender Chael Sonnen has been well-publicized, and in a funny little bit on RAW, he and opponent Daniel Bryan paid homage to the turning point in Sonnen’s fight with Anderson Silva.
Just like Sonnen in his Saturday night championship match against Silva, CM Punk whiffed on a spinning back fist attempt and fell into the corner of the ropes (equivalent to the cage in the UFC fight). Daniel Bryan, like the ultimately successful champion Anderson Silva, followed up with a knee to the body of his downed opponent during the mixed tag match main-event.
The move garnered some minor Twitter attention Monday night but will likely have gone unnoticed by the masses.
