Chris Brown’s “Fortune” Album Sales Set for Big Drop; Still Headed for Number One

Having flopped a year prior with his “Graffiti” album, Chris Brown surprised the industry with a huge bow for 2011’s “FAME.” The album moved an impressive 270,000 units in its first week, proving that the negative PR Brown had received after the Rihanna incident was not enough to derail his success as a hit recording artist.

Chris Brown's Fortune (2012)

“Fortune,” Brown’s latest, again looks likely for a number one debut on the Billboard 200, although its sales total will be a far cry from the predecessor. Those familiar with early-week sales data forecast an opening total about 125-140,000, Billboard notes.

On par with sales for Usher’s recent release “Looking 4 Myself,” the tally is nonetheless underwhelming given what “FAME” said about the R&B/pop star’s ability to open an album.
