Houston Rockets Expected to Make Offer to Jeremy Lin

The AP reported late Tuesday that the Houston Rockets will be meeting with Jeremy Lin on Wednesday. The discussion is expected to involve a contract offer.

According to the story, the Rockets are recognizing the likelihood that point guard Goran Dragic will not return and see Lin as an alternative.

Lin, who was waived by the Rockets prior to joining the New York Knicks and kicking off “Linsanity,” would gel from a marketing standpoint as well, given the team’s interest in maintaining the Asian rapport it gained during Yao Ming’s run several years back.

But save for a blockbuster deal involving another free agent target, the Knicks, who benefited greatly from a morale and commercial standpoint during the height of Lin’s run this past season, are not expected to let the Harvard graduate slip away easily. The team will make reasonable efforts to match offers he receives.
