WWE Suspends Major Superstar After Incident; Wrestler Nearly Arrested

WWE.com wrote on its official website that Chris Jericho has been suspended indefinitely due to “an irresponsible act of denigrating the Brazilian flag at a WWE live event in São Paulo on May 24.”

Late Thursday night, reports broke that Jericho was “nearly” arrested for the house show incident, during which he grabbed the Brazilian flag from opponent CM Punk and kicked it.

Authorities at the event reportedly considered taking Jericho into custody, but that scenario was avoided. The company traveled to Ecuador shortly after as its South American events continue.

Responding to the situation, Jericho Tweeted, “Just for the record I love Brazil and wish we could’ve spent more time here. Beautiful country!”

WWE noted that it apologized to the citizens and government of Brazil for the incident.
