Thanks to the return of “Dancing with the Stars,” Monday now easily represents the most-stacked night on television. And though the result was that all series fell from grace (some considerably), most of the major players still managed respectable numbers.
One that did not was FOX’s soon-to-end “House,” which garnered a meager 2.0 adults 18-49 rating and 5.8 million viewers. A far cry from when it was a flagship FOX series in the demo, “House” is not poised to go out anywhere near on top.
“Alcatraz,” which is a very likely cancellation prospect, was barely on the radar with a 1.6 and 5.1 million.
Undoubtedly hurt by “Dancing,” NBC’s “The Voice” still claimed the nightly victory, with a 4.5 and 11.8 million viewers. Its lead-out “Smash” delivered a 2.3 and 6.7 million, but now that “Castle” is again receiving the “DWTS” lead-in, it was actually the lowest-rated broadcast program in the 10PM hour.
“Dancing” was hit big time in its head-to-head with “The Voice,” although part of that fall can be attributed to series age and a cast wholly lacking in the buzz department. Its 3.5 rating was down considerably from last year’s 5.3; viewership was down to a still-dominant 18.5 million.
“Castle” followed for ABC with a 2.4 and 11.9 million.
On the whole, CBS’ comedies held up relatively well in comparison to their previous, lackluster outings in February. “How I Met Your Mother” dropped slightly a 3.4 and 8.2 million, tying “2 Broke Girls” (hit the hardest of CBS comedies) in the demo. The latter delivered 9.2 million viewers.
The 9PM pair of “Two and a Half Men” (3.8 and 11.3 million) and “Mike & Molly” (3.2 and 9.8 million) actually improved over its previous original broadcast.
At 10PM, “Hawaii 5-0” won the time period with a 2.5 and 9.1 million.
