“Soul Surfer” Books Lead in CW’s “Sex and the City” Spin-off

Variety reported Monday that AnnaSophia Robb, best known for her lead role in 2011’s “Soul Surfer,” has been tapped to play a young Carrie Bradshaw in CW’s “The Carrie Diaries” pilot.

Set in the 1980s, the series, designed as a precursor to HBO’s smash comedy “Sex and the City,” chronicles Carrie Bradshaw’s earliest adventures while going through high school in Manhattan.

Stefania Owen will play Carrie’s sister Dorrit.
