Adele, Bruno Mars Dominate Grammy Nominations, Taylor Swift Snubbed

Those who assumed this year’s Grammys would have no choice but to recognize Taylor Swift, who won Album of the Year two years ago, learned why assumptions are never a good idea.

Swift and her music are notably absent from the key categories in this year’s Grammy Awards, for which nominations were announced Wednesday.

Kanye West was also snubbed by the album of the year category, one for which many believed he was a lock this year. He did score a Song of the Year nod.

This is not to say no obvious names will be showcased at the upcoming awards show–Adele, who seems poised for the most dominant Grammys performance in recent memory, was recognized in the top three categories. Bruno Mars, too, finds himself in the mix for the top prizes.
