Things are not going well for “The X Factor” mentor Paula Abdul.
Last week, in order to save her group The Stereo Hogzz, she was forced to vote for the elimination of her other group inTENsity.
This week, the bottom two again consisted of two Paula Abdul protege acts, and the judge was again forced to make a tough decision. Would she again side with The Stereo Hogzz, or would she fight for female country-pop group Lakoda Rayne?
In an emotional moment, Abdul wanted to abstain from voting, feeling far too uncomfortable to make a decision. Unfortunately, abstaining from voting would have essentially been a vote against The Stereo Hogzz, since LA Reid and Nicole Scherzinger had already elected to save Lakoda Rayne.
That meant that Paula gave a throwaway vote to The Stereo Hogzz (just so that she wasn’t the one responsible for sending one of her groups home). The vote, however, ultimately meant nothing when Simon Cowell joined the other two judges in sending them home. So, after a second week in the bottom three, the pop-R&B group is gone.
Voting has not been kind to the group acts thus far this season, although the results this week were a bit less shocking insofar as neither Lakoda Rayne nor The Hogzz ranked highly on most reviews and recaps. Plus, country-pop tweeners Lakoda Rayne went more definitively country Wednesday, a move which could have backfired given the high percentage of country fans watching the CMA Awards on ABC.
