“Pan Am” Ratings Crash, ABC Future Not Promising

Since ABC is unlikely to cancel “Pan Am” this week, it will at least survive longer than NBC’s own retro drama “The Playboy Club,” which was pulled after just three airings.

In fact, given the struggle facing a number of ABC’s dramas, it is not even a certainty that the show is on the immediate cancellation radar.

But “Pan Am” is definitely troubled, and at this rate, the idea of it getting an actual second season (not just a back-nine order for season one) seems thoroughly out of the question.

The show took a massive ratings tumble Sunday, dipping to just a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating with 6.4 million viewers. While “Desperate Housewives” is not providing much help (it tied its series low 2.7 rating), the actual appeal of “Pan Am” still has to shoulder the blame for a 27% decline from week two to week three.
