FX’s polarizing “American Horror Story” opened to decent ratings Wednesday; so decent, in fact, that it managed to top all cable competition.
The Ryan Murphy/Brad Falchuk (“Glee”) creation garnered a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating with 3.2 million viewers. Those are not mega-hit numbers in the vein of “The Walking Dead,” but they’re very respectable for a cable series.
The trick now, however, is for “Horror Story” to hold up. Given the “hit or miss” nature of the premiere, it is likely the ratings will decline next week, but as long as the decline is modest, the show should be fine.
— Two more television cancellations came Thursday. NBC dropped “Free Agents,” while The CW pulled “H8R.” Both moves were expected due to abysmal ratings.
