No Luck for Steve Carell; Charlie Sheen Gives Jim Parsons Emmy Award

No one knew how Steve Carell, coming off the ultra-hot second season of “The Office” several years ago, managed to fall short in the Emmy race to Tony Shalhoub.

This year, the year of his departure from television and the final opportunity to win the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Award, his victory seemed like an even bigger lock.

Yet it was again not to be. Jim Parsons, who won last year for his show-making turn as Sheldon Cooper on “The Big Bang Theory,” played spoiler this time around.

Noteworthy was the fact that Charlie Sheen, who was fired from Chuck Lorre’s other show “Two and a Half Men,” handed the award to Parsons.
