The CW Moves Forward with “Sex and the City” Prequel

A “Sex and the City” prequel from “Gossip Girl” producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage is moving forward at The CW, various trades reported.

According to Variety and THR, the network opted to move forward with the prequel–based on Candace Bushnell’s “The Carrie Diaries”–after a pitch meeting Friday.

“They bought it in the room,” said a Variety source.

Amy B. Harris would be involved as a showrunner, and if the effort goes to series, Bushnell would likely receive an executive producer credit.
