Nick Diaz Not Fired After Incident; UFC Books Fighter Against BJ Penn

UFC might have pulled Nick Diaz from his scheduled title fight with Georges St. Pierre, but the fighter is certainly not done with the organization.

In fact, he will be fighting on the same UFC 137 card he was expected to headline.

The leading mixed martial arts promotion confirmed Thursday that Diaz will fight BJ Penn in the show’s co-main-event.

Penn was originally scheduled to fight Carlos Condit in a number one contender’s match on the show. But when Diaz missed a press conference and then multiple flights for another one, UFC pulled Diaz from his title fight with GSP and gave the honor to Condit. That left Penn vacant for a fight with Diaz.

UFC President Dana White hinted that the planned replacement opponent would blow observers away. Now that it has been revealed as Nick Diaz, how do you feel about the news?
