“Glee: The 3D Concert Movie” Totally Bombs at Box Office, “The Help” Impresses

After delivering Friday numbers that, while small, at least kept the film on pace to reach its projected total, “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie” completely fell apart Saturday and ended up delivering a disastrous opening weekend total.

The film grossed just $5.7 million according to weekend estimates, which put it at eleventh place for the weekend. Abysmally forecast going into the weekend at only $8-10 million, the actual total is that of a legitimate bomb.

On the other side of the spectrum was “The Help,” which overperformed to earn $25.5 million and a second place finish (behind “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”‘s $27.5 million). Since its Wednesday opening, “Help” has earned $35.4 million.

“Final Destination 5” landed in third on an underwhelming $18.4 million, but it still garnered enough to top week three of “The Smurfs” ($13.5 million). “30 Minutes or Less” was lighter than projections with $13 million for its opening weekend.
