UFC Cancels UFC 133 Co-Main-Event After All

Although it considered finding a replacement for the injured Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 133, the leading mixed martial arts promotion was ultimately forced to cancel the co-main-event.

Nogueira was to have fought Rich Franklin, but as it had already gone through potential replacements at light heavyweight for both the main-event with Rashad Evans and an undercard bout with Alexander Gustafsson, there was apparently no one to fill in.

UFC.com now lists Vitor Belfort vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama as the semi-main-event, with Dennis Hallman vs. Brian Ebersole promoted to a spot on the main pay-per-view card. Matt Hamill vs. Alexander Gustafsson and Chad Mendes vs. Rani Yahya are the Spike TV fights.
