WWE Responds to CM Punk Rant, Gay Slur as Company Gets Heat from Media

Perhaps designed simply to continue the “loose cannon” gimmick he started with Monday’s RAW promo, CM Punk ranted on fans at a house show this weekend and scored negative media attention for WWE.

Responding to heckling ringside fans at a WWE house show in Australia, Punk verbally laid into the two males, screaming “you have a vagina.” He also called criticized one’s faux hawk before calling him a “homo.”

TMZ picked up the story with a video of the incident, highlighting the fact that WWE works directly with GLAAD on its anti-bullying campaign. The relationship came after the media tore into John Cena and Michael Cole for material that was perceived as homophobic.

WWE quickly responded to the outlet, explaining, “WWE does not condone this type of language or bias and we reinforce that with our talent who are independent contractors.”

  1. WWE, like many other franchises encourages bad behavior to sell a story line. The news media has become the social justice police force and has run out of control in political correctness opinions directly affecting western society as a hole. This needs to stop. Cm punk was provoked by fans whose own words were not scrutinized with risk to their reputations.
