Charlie Sheen Character to Die?, “Law & Order: SVU” Adds New Characters

While the creative team might be talked out of the idea, sources close to “Two and a Half Men” say the current plan is to explain Charlie Sheen’s departure with a death.

Sheen’s Charlie Harper is to be revealed as dead in the season premiere, reports TMZ. One idea being tossed around involves Harper driving his car off a cliff.

As of right now, the plan is reportedly not for the debuting Ashton Kutcher to be revealed as a long-lost Harper family member. Instead, TMZ says the explanation for his insertion to the cast could be as simple as his character buying the Charlie Harper house once Sheen’s character dies.

Filming does not begin until August, so changes are still possible.

— Kelli Giddish (“Chase”) and Danny Pino (“Cold Case”) are reportedly joining the cast of NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU.” Pino will effectively be replacing the departing Christopher Meloni, while Giddish will ramp up the female presence as series star Mariska Hargitay takes on a lighter role.

Pino very much fit the description of the actor “SVU” wanted to find as a replacement for Meloni while, Giddish, who starred on NBC’s failed “Chase” last season, has been a favorite of TV insiders. Insiders have described her to Headline Planet as a “female Alex O’Loughlin” of sorts, in that networks and producers are so confident in her ability to break out on television that they are willing to excuse some failed series. She also starred on FOX’s very short-lived “Past Life.”
