Update: “House” Star Confirms She’s Leaving the FOX Drama

Ahead of FOX’s recent renewal of “House” for an eighth season, a Deadline report on cast negotiations said that despite being asked to consider salary and/or guaranteed episode cuts, Omar Epps, Robert Sean Leonard and Lisa Edelstein were returning to the show.

Epps and Leonard made their pacts official recently, and the word was that Lisa Edelstein would sign once returning from an “overseas” commitment.

Something changed, however, and Edelstein has opted not to continue as Dr. Cuddy.

“After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead,” explained Edelstein in a statement.
