MTV Has a “Situation” Developing, ABC Swapping Celebrity Wives

ABC has reportedly issued a six episode order for “Celebrity Wife Swap,” according to various television sources.

The series would add a celebrity spin to “Wife Swap,” the well-known ABC reality series that last aired original episodes in 2010. No booked celebrities were yet revealed for the six episode run.

— MTV, meanwhile, has signed Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino to a development deal. Sorrentino, the most-recognizable “Jersey Shore” cast member, was conspicuously absent from the network’s recent spin-off announcements, which saw orders given to series starring the Jenni “JWoww” Farley-Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi contingent and “Pauly D” Delvecchio.

Under the deal, Sorrentino will film a pilot presentation for the cable network later this year, THR notes.

Aware of a potential impact on the core “Jersey Shore” series, MTV maintains that the spin-offs will not lead to the cast members departing the original show, which is currently prepping its fourth season.
