“American Idol” Announces Next Week’s “Now and Then” Theme, Guest Performers

With each contestant performing a pair of songs for the first time since season seven, the “American Idol” Top 5 will explore “Now and Then” on next week’s show.

The theme calls for the remaining contestants–Haley Reinhart, James Durbin, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina–to select one song from the present day and one song from the 1960s. FOX’s press release did not confirm if any additional, more specific constraints are being made on the song lists.

Then, on Thursday’s results show, “Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez takes the stage to perform “On the Floor” with Pitbull. Lopez apparently counts as the “Idol” representative–there is no former contestant lined up.

Country trio Lady Antebellum will also perform.
