Latest News on Major WWE Superstar Leaving, Update on Undertaker’s Return

Regarding rumors that CM Punk is hesitating on re-signing with WWE and possibly considering a lengthy hiatus, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that the situation was initially attributed to Punk finding that his reality in WWE did not live up to his dreams.

When rumbling first got out that Punk was considering taking a leave from WWE, sources claimed that despite wanting to be a top WWE Superstar since his youth, when he actually achieved his goal, he started to question if it was what he really wanted.

Others, however, dispute that claim–after all, he returned faster than expected from his injury at the beginning of the year, despite the fact that he was successful and could have spent more time in his less-intensive announcing role.

While some reports on Punk’s negotiations holdout suggest he could be eyeing a permanent departure from WWE, most do not believe that is the case. Friends of the wrestler say that he does not necessarily have any other projects lined up, and that if he does leave, it would simply be a sabbatical to rejuvenate himself.

That “recharge the batteries” logic seemed consistent with what Punk had been conveying on the recent European tour, which is the major source of reports that he wants to take time away from the ring.

At the end of the day, of course, the possibility that he will re-sign and continue without a significant break is not entirely remote.

— Lockerroom Note: Undertaker was backstage at this week’s RAW, although it was mainly due to his wanting to spend time with Michelle McCool, his wife. He is still hurting, and no plans for a return are on the immediate cards.
