Most “American Idol” fans are still reacting to Pia Toscano’s surprise elimination, but like it or not, the show will indeed go on.
FOX issued a press release early Friday morning confirming the return of the “songs from the movies” theme for Wednesday’s performance show. The top eight will select songs from that category for next week, again seemingly having the option of staying within their comfort zones they try to capture America’s votes.
Rihanna will take the stage for a performance on Thursday’s results show. Also on stage that night will be Jason Aldean and season one “Idol” Kelly Clarkson, who will perform their duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

Unfortunately, AI has never been a singing contest. It will never be a singing contest until they limit the votes to one per person…and that will never happen. Last night was a complete joke and farce.
Okay, so American Idol is very much a singing contest & has been for 10 years. Pia was not going to win the whole thing anyways. She was going to go home sooner or later, so why not now? Don’t get me wrong, she was an amazing singing but when she sang “River Deep, Mountain High” she did a very good job on the singing part but not a very terrible job on stage presence & the song she picked you are supposed to dance & have fun with it & all she did was stand there like she was singing another ballad. Yeah, she walked behind the judges once but it needed more to it. I was not at all surprised to see her go. I had even ranked her in the bottom 3. Scotty McCreery did a FANTASTIC job on his song. I am from where he is but I just don’t like him because he is local. She has am amazing voice & the song he did on wednesday was fantastic & all them people that called him a “one trick pony” that could only sing Josh Turner’s “Baby lock them doors & turn the lights down low”. Yeah, they shut up real quick when he did this fast song & did it very well. She even did an Elvis move which I thought was funny & cute at the same time. This is Scotty’s year & everyone is mad & not watching the show anymore because Pia got sent home is weird. Yall should watch it so ya’ll can see Scotty whoop some butt theses last weeks. I don’t really know who will be in the top 2 with him. I’m predicting on James, Lauren or Casey. The others will be sent home. But who ever he is with he will beat them. It’s about time we get someone country like Scotty. This is Scotty’s year. HANDS DOWN! 🙂
Hopefully you are joking. He is not going to win and is still a one-trick pony. Sorry. He just needs to go now and then he can go make his country CD that most Idol fans won’t listen to anyway.
look i am a huge scotty fan. i won’t say that i necessarily think he is going to win. He is a country guy and i think it would be a shame for him to go away from that just to get votes. Everyone is always saying that he is a one trick pony. I really don’y see the problem with that. the point of american idol is not to find the person who can sing every genre of music. it is to find a completely unknown singer and enable them to make a great album. scotty is a country singer and i don’t think that anyone will argue that he isnt, but using that fact against him isnt right. that’s like trying to say a rapper isnt good because he doesn’t sing country. a person may not like the rapper because of this, but it doesnt make him a lesser artist.
Hang tight here, Don’t rule James out yet. I know a lot of people don’t like his music , me included, but I have voted for him since the begining, He is an awesome performer, I will buy his album. His singing is out of this world. At least he’s not a one trick pony , sorry guys. I love James Durbin !!!! Crystal and Adam robbed, at least they made the finale, hope James does too. Vote like crazy guys. Durbin for the win.
I am surprised when people make comments about the contestants they don’t care for. Who cares?
This is American Idol, a singing competition that looks for ways to keep the ratings high. Voters vote. If Scotty has a strong fan base, what can anyone do about it? “IDOL” is a key word here because it also means MONEY. Tweens buy CDS. AI wants lots of money, so it doesn’t matter if you don’t like so and so…this is all for the money.
Besides, winning AI is not all that. They are basically trapped into a contract that no other marketable singer would want.
