Britney Spears Album Sales Fall for “Femme Fatale,” Wiz Khalifa Strong

The good news for Britney Spears, her label and her fans is that new album “Femme Fatale” will open on the Billboard 200 as the week’s clear number one.

The bad news is that the album’s opening frame total will fall sharply from that of predecessor “Circus.”

Based on one day sales data, Hits Daily Double forecasts an opening in the 275-300,000 range. Though an impressive chart performance in a vacuum, it marks a steep tumble from the premiere tally for 2008’s “Circus.” That album launched to an opening sales frame of more than 500,000.

Far closer-behind than expected will be Wiz Khalifa’s “Rolling Papers.” Fueled by breakout success for “Black & Yellow,” the album will move an impressive 190-215,000 copies in its first week, Hits forecasts.

Other debut forecasts include Radiohead’s “The King of Limbs” (50-60,000) and Snoop Dogg’s “Doggumentary” (45-50,000).
