Chris Brown’s “F.A.M.E.” Album Sales Dominate Strokes, Jennifer Hudson

Some have suggested the “Good Morning America” incident will do further reputational damage, but based on early album sales figures for his “F.A.M.E.,” it appears Chris Brown has recaptured the stardom he lost after the Rihanna scandal.

Based on opening day sales, Hits Daily Double projects his latest album to accumulate 250-275,000 first week sales. This marks a significant increase from predecessor and first post-Rihanna album “Graffiti,” which only mustered 102,000 sales in its debut week. It will also land Brown the top spot on the Billboard 200 next week.

If the sales forecast holds up, “F.A.M.E.” will, in fact, open to a total just shy of that for his 2007 smash “Exclusive,” which debuted to 294,000 copies sold. That album, fueled by its second single “Kiss Kiss,” also included the smash “With You” (and later “Forever” on the deluxe edition).

Jennifer Hudson starts as the next-highest debut with “I Remember Me.” The Hits forecast indicates 150-175,000 opening frame transactions.

The Strokes’ “Angles” and Kirk Franklin’s “Hello Fear” are also on the map at 85-100,000 and 80-95,000 in forecasted sales, respectively.

Panic at the Disco lost momentum after a lukewarm mainstream reaction to predecessor “Pretty. Odd.,” but the band’s “Vices & Virtues” should still be good for a respectable 55-65,000 first week sales.

    • Neil, you’re an idiot, if white educated people know how to rip music off online, then how educated are you really? It would seem to me if you’re so educated you would have such a high paying job you wouldn’t have to STEAL artist music because you would be able to buy any music you want. Most black uneducated and educated people know how to rip music online they just choose not to because it’s the decent thing to do and oh, IT’S ILLEGAL. So basically you’re educated in the art of stealing, not very educated in my opinion because any six year old can steal and any idiot can rip music.

    • F.A.M.E leaked on the internet 2 weeks before the album dropped. Anybody could have downloaded it. Yet, honest people, of all backgrounds, with morals and values decided to do the right thing and support the artist. *shaking my head* Wow…shows your level of education…

    • HOW DARE YOU NEIL…TAKE IDIOT AS A COMPLIMENT THERE ARE VARIOUS LEVELS OF STUPID AND YOU ARE AMONGST THE NIT WIT’S. MY TEENAGERS PURCHASED THEIR FAME CD’S FROM THE STORE AND GUESS WHAT WE ARE EDUCATED WHITE PEOPLE. ITS ABOUT THE MUSIC NOT THE MEDIA TREATING PEOPLES SITUATIONS LIKES ACTS IN A CIRCUS. MY SUGGESTION TO YOU SIR IS TO ENROLL YOURSELF IN SOMEONES COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND EDUCATED YOURSELF.

  1. @Neil The strokes album leaked. The only reason it is not selling as good as CB is because The strokes have not made music since 2006. I’m black, and I did media fire Angles illegally. But I also purchased it first. Plus you act as if all of Chris Brown’s fans are un-white, and all strokes fans are white. Grow up loser.

  2. I’m a grandmother and I had forgottrn just how talented Chris really was/is, he’s a pleasure to watch and his music is quite appealing. AS robin said “I wish him nothing but the best”

  3. Well, I’m glad urban audiences are buying albums again. I was on Twitter and people were saying FAME was their first album they’d ever bought — WOW! Anyways, I’m hoping JHud and Chris sell big. JHud is proving why she should have won American Idol and Chris could use some good new right now.

As for the Strokes, I have their first album. I didn’t know they released another one until today. So far, most people aren’t feeling it, so I’ll pass…

  4. If he beats both The Strokes and Panic! At The Disco the world is stupid and instead of supporting real artists they support some wife beater trash.

  5. the album speaks all he’s been through- F.AM.E is undeniably the best chris brown has done..it has everything for everyone- smooth ballads, fist pumping hits, songs that even make u feel beautiful “beautiful people” 5/5 on the album and would recommend it to anyone all ages–from the teens to your dad–amazing vocals and shares true talent…love the album alot

  6. I love Chris Brown album FAME. It’s has everything you could ever want. He definitely spoiled us with this album. I love the R&b song. I from the old school. My little newphew loves Chris dance songs like Yeah3x and Beautiful people. He just six years old and he knows all the words. He swears one day he going to dance with Chris. For anyone still condemning him over his past, grow up. This a new day and we don’t know how long the earth will be standing. I adore Chris Brown and I support him 100%. Go get FAME legally it is worth every cent and more.

  7. yeah mayne chris brown’s fames is back and to all of y’all haters forget you because the next R n’b king is doing G-R-E-A-T. Chris keep it up aight and can I request for you to make a music video for she ain’t you It’s a potential grammy winning track.
