The CW’s “90210” Not Dead, But Show Could Get New Feel Next Season

While many still believe The CW will renew “90210” for a fourth season despite its recent string of abysmal ratings, the show will likely undergo a change if it does come back.

According to TVLine’s Michael Ausiello, showrunner Rebecca Sinclair will not be renewing her contract beyond the current third season.

“Rebecca’s contract was up so it was no surprise to us at all,” says a representative for CBS Television Studios. ”We have a very strong staff and we have been exploring various people and are confident we’ll find the right replacement.”

Sinclair joined the show after its critically-panned inaugural season and is credited with breathing significant creative life into the teen soap. While it is unclear how intricately Sinclair was involved in these elements, notable improvements since season one include making AnnaLynne McCord’s Naomi a focal point over Shenae Grimes’ Annie and creating more organic writing and scenarios for the male characters.

A showrunner shakeup is not expected to weigh on the decision to renew the show.
