The Rock Mocks John Cena’s RAW Promo, Critics Express Disappointment

John Cena promised to serve storyline rival The Rock with a “final knockout” on Monday’s WWE RAW, but the consensus from critics is that the popular WWE Superstar greatly missed the mark.

After receiving rave reviews for his first rap response last month, which many felt reached the lofty bar raised by The Rock’s show-stopping return interview, Cena’s second attempt at a rhyme-based promo fell flat, with the crowd–and at-home critics–apparently groaning at some his his shtick.

Most commenting fans and analysts, however, were in agreement that the “I Bring it Via Satellite” T-shirt was a nice touch.

Worth noting is the fact that critics felt The Rock, too, failed to live up to the standards set by his first promo with his “via satellite” interview on last Monday’s show. The difference, of course, is that the response to The Rock’s second promo was still positive–it was simply more of a reigned-in positive.

Furthering the storyline feud with Cena, Rock Tweeted, “Wow can The People’s Champ and THE MILLIONS recover from that devastating Dr.Seuss “final KO blow”? CENA = HOT SHAVED BARNEY ANUS GARBAGE..”
