NBC’s “REM” Pilot Books Jason Isaacs as Lead, “24” Exec Running Show

NBC’s “24”-like “The Event” fell far short of ratings expectations for the inaugural part of its fall season, but the Peacock is not getting out of the high-concept serialized-drama business.

“REM,” which received a pilot order recently, brings “24” showrunner Howard Gordon back into the television drama fold. And the thriller, billed as carrying similarities to Oscar-nominated film “Inception,” has now cast its lead.

Jason Isaacs, who had been identified as one of the most in-demand actors this pilot season, has been booked to star as a cop who must deal with parallel realities after a car accident.

Isaacs has been sought-after for a television run since the end of his previous series “Brotherhood.” He was cast in FOX’s recent pilot “Pleading Guilty,” but that ultimately failed to launch.
