“American Idol” Ratings Sink Again, “$#*! My Dad Says” Hits Series Low

Aligning with the Headline Planet analysis, ratings for the Thursday edition of “American Idol” sank dramatically from the Wednesday total, again posting a number well below the standards of the reality juggernaut.

While no one at FOX will complain about a dominant 7.6 adults 18-49 rating for the series, that represents a sizable drop-off from Wednesday’s 9.2 and a slight fall from last week’s 7.7. Considering last week’s episode faced much more difficult competition by way of an original “The Big Bang Theory,” the 7.6 rating is somewhat disappointing and another sign that, for whatever reason, “Idol” clicks better on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Viewership clocked in at 22.3 million.

Positive about the “Idol” performance was it support for “Bones,” which posted its best number in years. Fueled by the “Idol” lead-in and the absence of original competition on ABC and CBS, the light-hearted procedural garnered a 3.9 with 12.2 million viewers.

With only a re-run of “Big Bang” (2.4 rating) to provide lead-in support and the wrath of “American Idol” in its way, CBS’ “$#*! My Dad Says” dipped to a series low 2.3 rating with 8.9 million. ABC’s 8PM entry “Winter Wipeout” was down to a 2.4 with 7.6 million viewers.
