“Jersey Shore” Yields Another Ratings Record Thursday

MTV’s “Jersey Shore” success keeps on rolling.

Thursday’s episode of the third season reality series averaged 8.9 million viewers, marking yet another viewership high for the series. Among adults 18-49, the show rose to a record 4.7 rating, topping everything on television but “American Idol.”

The show scored an 8.4 with women 18-34 and a 7.6 with teens 12-17.

After getting off to a lukewarm start for its series premiere, it has been smooth, almost-entirely-upward sailing for the buzzworthy reality show. Despite opening its current third season at a lofty total of 8.45 million viewers, “Shore” has still managed to increase its Thursday timeslot audience every week.

The only exception to the upward trajectory this season was Monday’s special edition, which still averaged a healthy 7.7 million viewers despite airing out of timeslot and against stronger adults 18-49 competition.
