Chris Colfer Wins “Glee” Golden Globe, “Boardwalk Empire” Dominates

“Boardwalk Empire” has so far claimed two of the most prominent television awards at the 68th Annual Golden Globes, but by virtue of its acting talent, “Glee” remains in the race for dominance.

Colfer, who emerged as a surprise Emmy nominee for his performance as openly-gay student Kurt Hummel last year, was viewed as a frontrunner for the overall supporting actor prize at the Globes (encompassing series, mini-series and movies from both drama and comedy). Sure enough, Colfer won the prize, beating out names like Eric Stonestreet (“Modern Family”) and Scott Caan (“Hawaii 5-0”).

Jane Lynch surprisingly missed out on the win last year for her work as “Glee” villain Sue Sylvester. She was not overlooked twice–the beloved character actress claimed the 2011 Golden Globe.

Katey Sagal, meanwhile, won the best actress prize for her work on “Sons of Anarchy.” The television veteran Sagal has earned immense fan support for her work on the FX drama.

“Empire,” though, currently sits as the big winner. In addition to claiming the Best Drama Series trophy, the show’s star Steve Buscemi also won for best television actor in a drama.
