FX Wants More of “The League,” Disappointed with “Lights Out”

Speaking at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, FX president John Landgraf expressed interest in keeping sports comedy “The League” around for a third season.

After getting off to a mild ratings start for its premiere season, “The League” became a fairly-reliable player behind “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” for round two. And, according to Landgraf, the cable network will order a third season if negotiations with the showrunners yield a desirable outcome.

Regarding the abysmal premiere numbers for “Lights Out,” Landgraf admitted the network was disappointed but pointed to network hit “Sons of Anarchy” as proof that a show can find an audience after lukewarm debut ratings.

As of press time, “Lights Out” was to air its entire first season over the next twelve weeks, so there will be enough data to make a fair decision about whether it deserves a second season.
