“Jersey Shore” Star Pauly D Scores MTV Spin-Off, Footage Already Shot

“Jersey Shore” star Pauly “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio became the first cast member to receive a spin-off on MTV, the network confirmed Wednesday.

While Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino remains the show’s biggest crossover name, Pauly D and Nicole “Snookie” Polizzi had also been viewed as frontrunners to receive their own spin-offs. News of Pauly D getting the separate series is even less surprising given the fact that a pilot presentation has already been shot chronicling his “life away from the shore.”

“At the heart of Jersey Shore is the unique and genuine cast and Pauly D truly embodies both qualities,” said MTV’s Chris Linn in a statement. “He’s distinguished himself onscreen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed, and dependable guy you can’t help but want to hang out with. We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that.”

Pauly D’s signature blowout hairstyle became one of the show’s most prominent early images; in season two, he developed a reputation with viewers as one of the more “sane” and “normal” members of the cast and also played a pivotal role in introducing “T-shirt time.”
