“Modern Family” Ratings Fall, “Psych” Drops Without “Twin Peaks”

ABC’s Wednesday lineup was hit by a more severe version of the bug that plagued CBS’ Monday comedies, with comedies like “Modern Family” dropping by more than 10% in the ratings this week.

“Modern Family” posted a 4.2 final adults 18-49 rating with 11.08 million viewers, down from the 4.8 posted by the last non-holiday original. Other victims included “The Middle” (down from a 2.8 rating to a 2.4 rating; viewership clocked in at 8.68 million), “Better with You” (down from a 2.3 to 2.2; viewership interestingly up to 7.15 million) and “Cougar Town” (down from a 3.0 to 2.6; viewership of 6.44 million).

Over on cable, USA Network’s “Psych” expectedly dropped following last week’s “Twin Peaks” tribute episode, although its viewership remained solidly above 3 million. Wednesday’s new “Psych” averaged a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating with 3.09 million viewers, down from the 1.3 and 3.54 million for “Dual Spires.”
