“Grey’s Anatomy” Ratings Down, Community” Loses to “Big Bang Theory” Re-Run

Even with lighter competition due to CBS airing re-runs, ABC’s flagship drama “Grey’s Anatomy” suffered a minor decline in the ratings this week.

Thursday’s episode posted a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating with 10.94 million viewers, representing a drop of about 7% from the last original’s demo number. The performance was nonetheless enough to give “Grey’s” the nightly win for total and young adult viewers.

ABC aired “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” at 8PM (2.3 rating, 7.34 million viewers) and “Private Practice” at 10PM (2.9 rating, 8.01 million).

NBC’s night had its share of disappointments. While no one expected “Community” to match the total viewership figure, the critically-acclaimed NBC comedy could not even touch a re-run of “The Big Bang Theory” in the demo. Effectively failing to attract a single adults 18-49 viewer that usually watches “Big Bang,” “Community” garnered a 1.9 rating with 4.60 million viewers. The “Big Bang” encore scored a 2.4 with 8.91 million.

“30 Rock” was far from stellar, although it at least did not share “Community”‘s distinction of losing to a CBS repeat. “Rock” scored a 2.3 with 5.02 million, eclipsing the 1.9 for a “$#*! My Dad Says” repeat. The latter, though, won in total viewers with 7.44 million.

Flagship series “The Office” was relatively stable with a 3.7 and 7.31 million viewers. “Outsourced” checked in at a 2.5 with 5.37 million. “The Apprentice” closed the evening with a 1.4 and 4.11 million.

The CW’s numbers will be subject to change due to the Houston affiliate airing the Eagles-Texans game. On FOX, “Bones” scored a 2.4 with 8.87 million viewers, while “Fringe” was good for a soft 1.8 with 5.13 million.
