News on Bret Hart’s WWE Status, Possibility of Return

PWInsider.com confirms that Bret Hart is no longer under contract with WWE and thus has no plans to resume a regular role on television.

Hart and WWE remain on positive terms, and “The Hit Man” will absolutely be used on one-off house shows, live events and television broadcasts that could benefit notably from his presence. But insofar as there are veterans already under “Legends contracts” who could fill minor, cameo roles on television at far less of a cost, he will not make regular, frequent appearances.

Should WWE decide it has a worthwhile angle for Hart in the pipeline, the feeling is that the two sides would absolutely come together to make the deal happen. But, in the interim, there is little incentive to using Hart on anything more than an occasional basis.
