Another Rihanna album, another opening sales week just shy of 200,000.
Based on early sales data from Hits Daily Double, the Barbadian hit machine’s “Loud” is tracking for an opening week in the range of 180-190,000. If projections hold, that would situate “Loud” in the same territory as predecessor “Rated R” and slightly ahead of 2007’s “Good Girl Gone Bad.”
But the solid debut will not be enough for a chart-topper. Though tracking has proven tough for Susan Boyle’s “The Gift,” all indications are that the album, currently number one, will again top 300,000 sales for an impressive second week.
Sharing the spotlight with Boyle will be Jackie Evancho, whose “O Holy Night” is presently tracking just below 300,000. Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” will also remain in the mix.

Jackie is a good singer and a lady. I hope that she doesn’t turn into a tramp like most girls today (ex.: Lady Gaga (She is a lady in name only), Miley Cyrus, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Rihanna) and a great singer that doesn’t need to be Auto-Tuned. She needs Taylor Swift and Reba McEntire in her corner to help get past the trashy influences that can come with being a Hollywood grade celebrity. It is about time that non auto-tuned artists make the top of the charts once again.
SuBo and Jackie albums are not POP and Christmas targeted and they are the only top stars in town for their genres. Obviously they will be huge and their big sales probably last till end of Christmas and both may hit platinum at that time. Rihanna is pop, so her sales will drop to who know where the 2nd week.
Jackie is only 10 and her type of music (classical) usually don’t die and last for a long time plus she start out as top classical superstar at 10. Look like she is going to have a long 40 to 50+ years superstar career in her genre.
Pop singers does not last as long since most of their audience are bootleg youngsters change tastes very quick.

I don’t think Rihanna and the execs at Def Jam are worried about opening week sales…Rihanna has never been a big seller on opening week…she’s a steady seller.Anybody knows the music industry well will tell you that opening week sales no matter how low the numbers are, cannot determine the overall success of the album….all her previous albums has sold less than 200 thousand copies on their debut and all except her first has sold more than a million copies in the States.Good Girl Gone Bad debut with 168 thousand copies and went on to sell 2.5+ million in the states and over 9 million world wide. Someone said that Rihanna is pop so the weeks after the album may fall to God knows where…and I’m saying that an album can open with a huge sale and fall outside of the top 20 by the following week….so at the end of the day…the race is not for the swift.
Rihanna has developed farther than any other exotic female artist in the us…even beating us native artists, so her first week sales are greater than jhudsen, katy perry,nelly f,jordin sparks etc…this album has not received much promotion ,however we can gladly predict that it will be her most successful album to date.
Pop is Pop,Classical is Classical.I go more for the latter,why,well Some one stole a piece of my heart and I gave it willingly,that person is 10 years of age has the face of an Angel,and the voice of an Angel,that young lady is of course the PITTSBURG ANGEL herself Miss Jackie Evancho.
What may you ask swung it for me,well PIE JESU,on U-Tube and sung by Jackie.It is a career maker and breaker,even the top classical singers give it a pass it is so difficult to sing,the notes must be hit first time every time and the note must be held,no bounce pure and clear.This young lady went out on that stage during Americas Got Talent and absolutely nailed it,Jackie hit those notes and held them with a laserlike precision and you could see Jackie was hardly straining to hold them they just flowed from her very soul as if the Angels had come down from above to sing with her.I am 62 and male but Jackies voice picked me up and took me to the place where eagles soar and I shed a lot of tears it was such an uplifting moment.I can only say this if you do not believe me watch the film clip yourselves.
It is my small opinion that this young lady at the tender age of 10 will go on from this and rise up and become a world class singer of the kind you will only see once in a lifetime if you are lucky,she truly is The Pittsburg Angel. Cornwall.UK.
Jackie Evancho is awful.She has never sounded the same since agt.She sounds like an old British nanny singing Silent Night. Get real. AGT autotuned a ten year old for reviews.
Kasey, do you have any proof AGT autotuned her performances? You are just a troll. But I’ll bite–you should go to YouTube and listen to the clip “Jackie Evancho trio”, a mix of three audio clips with the same background music but three separate executions of the same song. Results? Pitch perfect, different timing, indicating she wasn’t lip-synching, and her performances are amazingly consistent yet interpreted slightly different each time. The last note of the song is impressive–she comes down differently on each, and the overlay is beautiful. Sorry, Kasey… I reject your comment as I believe you’re just jealous or uneducated.

BTW, I have carefully analyzed all of her YouTube clips with about $8000 worth of some very sophisticated audio test equipment, and there is no Autotune on any of them. That goes for the Today show, her appearances on the Tonight show, the View, Oprah, and all the others. No AutoTune! It’s sine wave is unmistakable, and it’s just not there!
