Brock Lesnar, Undertaker UFC 121 Confrontation Fuels Wrestling Rumors

WWE Superstar The Undertaker’s presence was not his only involvement at Saturday’s UFC 121 pay-per-view. Following the main-event, ‘Taker also had an encounter with defeated former UFC Champion Brock Lesnar, and the encounter is fueling rumors about a pro wrestling angle.

During an interview with MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani, Undertaker made eye contact with a defeated Brock Lesnar, who was walking to the back following his loss to Cain Velasquez.

Lesnar returned the stare, at which point, Undertaker asked, “You wanna do it?” Lesnar held the stare for a minute and then walked away.

Undertaker would only confirm to Helwani that the issue was “personal.”

The general belief right now is that WWE wants to book Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar for WrestleMania this year. While F4WOnline.com says that no deal is in place and most do not believe UFC would be on board with the cross-promotion, there is no indication that Undertaker was working for anything other than a match with the former WWE Superstar.

A later update confirmed that WWE has indeed offered the match to Lesnar.

  1. wow… Nobody is really talking about Velasquez’s impressive victory. Instead, people are more interested in the confrontation between the Undertaker and Lesnar. It’s unfortunate that the UFC now lost the money producing PPV King as their heavy weight champ. I bet the UFC is going to lose some serious revenue with PPV in near future with Velasquez as their heavy weight champ. I mean let’s face it Cain might be a better MMA fighter than Brock but he could never match Lesnar’s power to sell PPVs… The real loser is the UFC. I do hope Brock is smart enough to jump ship back to professional wrestling. I mean his come back would be like the second coming of Jesus Christ and it doesn’t matter whether it’s WWE or TNA!

  2. First off, Brock Lesnar’s absence in the UFC won’t be such a devastating blow as you might think. And the only reason UNdertaker and Lesnar’ exchange is being talked about is probably due to strong WWE fan presence at the fight and also tuned in to the PPV. They eat that stuff up like gossip girls and drama qween’s. Cain is the better fighter with better technique, stamina and raw willpower. Lesnar is just a one trick pony. 1. Overpower opponent with only size, 2 smother them till fight is stopped. Cain Velasquez was strong enough to stuff his takedowns and then left the one trick pony helpless with no other tool to try and win the fight. The pathetic fight didn’t go past the first round. Cain deserved a better chance to show his skill. The loser here is not the UFC, but the people content with having the same stereotypical champions who’s technique consists of only size and strength. If anything Cain’s victory only makes the sport more diverse in a time when it was starting to become a bit stale. The UFC was founded on diverse fighting styles and fighters from all over the world, each with their own style and technique. Brock had his run but he is just not on the same level. Mae he should go back to wrestling.

  3. Listen…. I’m as big a Brock hater as there is in MMA but that’s mainly because of the way he marketed himself after UFC 100. Not to mention all the uneducated crossover WWE fans that came over proclaiming him as the G.O.A.T before he had any fights on his resume. That said, there is NO WAY anyone’s going to convince me that he’s a “one trick pony who only got by on his size and strength.”

Some of his victories in the octagon were against MULTIPLE TIME Champions (Frank Mir, Randy Couture) a one time interim champion (Shane Carwin) and he has two successful title defenses! How bad is he, really?

While it was clear cut that Cain Velasquez was on another level, I still believe Brock is more than just a force at HW and will remain that way for a long time. He’s already said he’d never go back to the lifestyle that was required to be in the WWE (painkillers, alcohol, time away from family)so I expect he’ll be back in the UFC and looking to get in the title hunt sooner rather than later.

If anything, perhaps this stunt with Mark Calloway sets up a gigantic payday with a Wrestlemania appearance. Who could fault the guy for wanting to make some money?

As it stands now I have a new found respect for the humble Brock Lesnar that emerged after 116 and I really hope to see him back in the octagon really soon. I’d be willing to bet anything that Lesnar vs Mir III is already in the works and with another win there, we could be setting the stage for another shot at beating Cain. If Brocks first loss to Mir was any indicator of how FIRED UP he can get in “payback” mode, then I think a Cain rematch can and will be EPIC!!! We’ll see…. Anyway, get well soon Brock. Hope to see you back soon.

  4. Jay, you’re as wrong as the way you spelled the word “queen.” I AM a Lesnar fan, but I also know that Lesnar has more of a background than you think. Don’t tell me he has no ability. The guy was a collegiate wrestling champion, so don’t tell me he only has take downs because of his size. Wrestling has weight divisions too (college wrestling, not the fake stuff), so obviously he needed skill to get where he went. He markets himself a certain way because that’s how you make money. WWE taught him how to market himself, and obviously Vince wouldn’t be a multi-billionaire if he didn’t know how to market his talent. He isn’t a one trick pony. In fact, Lesnar’s got more skills than Paul Wight has X’s on the tag in his t-shirts. Remember who Lesnar has beaten, and if you do you can’t say that we have stereotypical champions with big chests and lunch boxes for hands, because from my memory, Lesnar is the only guy in UFC history quite like he is. I’m not going to go so far as to say that Valasquez’s victory was a fluke (even though TKO victories have always been a joke), but don’t think for one minute that Lesnar is a “one trick pony.” In fact, I might go as far as to say that the loss was a setup, because it’s a bit of a coincidence that Lesnar loses that title AND has a stare-down and exchange of words with the Undertaker RIGHT THEN, RIGHT THERE. And I wouldn’t be too surprised if Lesnar admitted that WWE put him up to it with a pair of tights and a check with seven zeros on it.

  5. Funny u all think ur experts about fighting, bet none of you ever fought in your lives, who cares, they fight and make good money so who gives a crap, in the end its that snake dana white who makes all the cash! Geez wrestling is a show but nonetheless there still athletes, all you Armschair MMA people give it a rest. In the end WWE and MMA is all entertainment. In fact UFC and WWE are probably in cahoots anyways!
