“Greek” Gets “Pretty Little Liars” Lead-in For ABC Family Return

ABC Family confirmed Tuesday that college soap “Greek” will return for its fourth season this January.

The critically-liked but low-rated dramedy returns Monday, January 3 with lead-in support from the returning “Pretty Little Liars.” “Liars” broke out as a hit series for the cable network this summer, and the hope is that the book adaptation can work as a solid complement for the veteran series.

Because “Greek”‘s concept skews older (and just differently) than many of ABC Family’s other series, it has historically failed to adequately synthesize with programming like “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and “Make it or Break It.” While it is not clear “Liars” will be a better fit, the show’s move to 9PM would ideally increase eyeballs.

The belief has long been that this would be “Greek”‘s final season, although ABC Family did not specify that fact in its press release.
