“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” Wins Mild Box Office, Tops “Owls,” “You Again”

It was not an excitable weekend at the box office, allowing long-awaited “Wall Street” sequel “Money Never Sleeps” to claim a victory in its opening weekend with less than $20 million in receipts.

According to early estimates, “Wall Street” garnered $19 million in its debut, topping the $16.3 million for new release “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.” Other top five performers included “The Town” ($16 million), “Easy A” ($10.7 million) and new release “You Again” ($8.3 million).

On the platform limited front, solid performers included “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” ($163,474 for a $27,246/screen average), “Waiting for ‘Superman'” ($141,000 for a $35,250/screen average) and “Buried” ($104,500 for a $9500/screen average).
