Santana, Selena Gomez, The Roots Set For Decent Album Sales Debuts

While none will come within striking distance of efforts from Zac Brown Band and Maroon 5, new releases from Santana, Selena Gomez & The Scene and The Roots are all in position for decent opening sales weeks.

According to one-day sales extensions from Hits Daily Double, Santana’s “Guitar Heaven” and Gomez’s “A Year Without Rain” are both pacing for about 55-60,000. As with fellow Disney star Demi Lovato’s first two releases, Gomez’s fanbase is strong enough to allow for steady album-to-album sales despite little assistance in the way of a mainstream hit. While “Naturally” from Selena Gomez & The Scene’s “Kiss & Tell” started to make waves and while “Round and Round” has brought attention to the new album, neither performed well enough to greatly extend Gomez’s popularity. The steady performance is thus respectable and a testament to her appeal with her core demographic.

Elsewhere on the charts, the John Legend-Roots collaboration “Wake Up!” will be good for 45-50,000 first week sales. Billy Currington’s “Enjoy Yourself” looks for 40-45,000.
