WWE Open to John Cena Heel Turn?, The Miz’s Future Feuds

The Miz’s current feud with Bryan Danielson is largely receiving positive reviews, but it is not meant to be a long-term program. Following the culmination of that program, Miz is slated to enter a more serious main-event program as WWE continues his build as one of the company’s top stars.

At press time, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE is looking at arranging a feud between Miz and Randy Orton, who presently shares the premiere RAW babyface position with John Cena.

On the subject of Cena, sources say WWE is presently more open to a heel turn than it had been at any prior point in his lengthy run as a top babyface. There is still a lot of concern about the implications on merchandise sales and long-term viability of his stardom (the feeling is that Steve Austin, for instance, never really recovered from his alignment with Vince McMahon in the early part of the last decade), but WWE realizes it needs to create fresh storylines ahead of WrestleMania and is at least workshopping the possibility.

In addition to the longstanding concerns about turning Cena heel, the rise of The Miz as a viable “bad guy” could also deter WWE’s interest in changing the presentation of its most popular Superstar. In addition to the Orton feud, Miz has been eyed for a future rehashing of his feud with John Cena (except, this time, he would be portrayed as an equal), and if he gets over to the point at which a Miz-Cena feud would generate commercial excitement for WrestleMania, WWE would certainly delay any talk of moving Cena to the other column.

  1. I’ll b kool 2 have Cena as a heel…..i’m getting sick of him as the top babyface. I also think Miz will try to cash in his MITB case on Randy but he will be the 1st one to fail.

  2. The more TV time the Miz gets, the less I watch RAW. I just cannot help changing the channel when I see that guy

  3. I don’t much care for John Cena and I absolutely despise the Miz. I don’t believe there’s really anything the WWE can do to change how I feel about the Miz, dude is just an aggravating sight. But I seriously think I would dislike Cena all the more as a heel, characters like he and Mysterio appeal to the younger audiences and new fans are introduced to them everyday. I don’t believe any ‘monetary’ good can come of a heel turn. His whole heroic, invincible persona does annoy me and I’m pretty outspoken about how tired I am of seeing him glorified week after week but I’d rather see him out of commission for a while as opposed to seeing and listening to the self-absorbed anecdotes we hear from the likes of Miz and Jericho. I wish Batista hadn’t gone out that way either.

  4. ONE CENA KANT TURN HEEL DUE TO THE FACT IT WILL TURN OUT LIKE STONE COLD AND WOULDNT LAST THAT LONG
2 HE IS THE FACE OF THE COMPANY AND ORTON IS NOT THE TYPE OF PERSON THAT VINCE WANTS AS HEAD OF THE COMPANY.
IVE MET VINCE B4 AND TAWKED TO HIM ABOUT THIS HE REALLY NEEDS CENA IF BATISTA WAS TO RETURN THEN THAT WOULD BE SUMTHING BUT NUTHING BIG. AND PLUS WITH THE RETURN OF THE HEEL TRIPLE H WOULDNT BE A GOOD MOVE

  5. who cares what you all want i think its time cena goes heel hes been face since 2004 thats 6 years been a nice guy i liked the old john cena that talked trash and rap battles

  6. ok look if cena ever turned heel, and i do me IF, their will be a HUGE HUGE HUGE popularity with the WWE. because WWE is getting kinda boring cause of cena babyface persona. i mean he had a good run at it, but we need a change and WWE has changed a lil bit. i mean we got randy WWE champion/face turn, we got kane now the dominant brother and world champion and mostly we have cena on nexus. imean WWE has made some BIG decisons over all this. i respect and love cena. i think cena is one of the greatest wrestlers ever, but im tird of him getting evrything he wants cause he is McMahons go too guy. it time for some other superstars to get “their time” and i think cena’s “time is up”. so i give WWE a C for making new storylines, mixing up matches, and mostly CHANGING CENA

  7. Cena *needs* to turn heel and Survivor Series and the Orton/Barrett match would be the perfect platform. He’s been a face for waaaaaay too long and it’s gotten really stale with this whole invincibility gimmick. I was utterly shocked when Barrett won their HitC simply because I was convinced there was no way Creative would let Cena, the “big hero”, lose a match with such critical stipulations.

The way I see it, if you’re a *true* Cena fan, you’ll cheer for him regardless of whether he’s a face or a heel. If not, then you’re just another monkey who cheers for whoever Vince tells you to.

  8. The Miz is the new champ…plain and simple. Randy needs time off to heal and John Cena will come back and turn heel. He would be cool as a heel since he was one when he came into the WWE 9 years ago. Wade Barrett will drop in and take the championship from the Miz so that the WWE can have a heel as a champ for a while. Have faith all you true Cena fans.

  9. Cary,
Miz is a heel. He will be champ for a while at least through Wrestlemania. The WWE is getting so much mainstream media exposure because they made Miz the champ and they love that kind of publicity. I see them doing a double turn at Mania Miz going face and Cena turning heel. After Miz beats Orton at TLC to end their feud he will move on to Morrison or Daniel Bryan, both of which have had their seeds planted the last week on Raw. After beating one of those guys at Royal Rumble and/or Elimination chamber, Cena will save the face from a beatdown and there goes your Cena Miz feud at Mania where Cena goes heel and miz turns face.
